Martin and his brother took over the family farm approx. 20 years ago when there was a herd of just 30 cattle

The farm converted to organic in 2002, as the brothers wanted to move away from intensive farming and get the cattle out into the fields more

Pennard Farm has between 90 and 100 fields and is overlooked by Glastonbury Tor while rolling down into the Somerset moors

Since converting, Martin has found a definite increase in wildlife and wild flowers, especially buttercups

Their breeding programme is slowly replacing the Holsteins out of the herd as they find that other breeds are more suitable to organic farming
